The Bikaner Fort is also known as the Junagarh Fort, which has remained intact to this day. In the 15th century, this imposing fortress was built by Raja Rai Singh, the general of Akbar. This fortress is surrounded by high walls and deep moats. The fortress can only be reached from two important gates, Surajpol and Daulatpol. The Suraj Pol or Puerta del Sol is the main entrance to the fort. Red sandstone is used in the construction of 37 palaces, temples and pavilions in this fort. The fort's palaces are known for their carved balconies, towers, and ornate windows. Some of the palaces worth visiting are Moon Palace, Phool Mahal, Karan Mahal, Ganga Niwas, and Vijai Mahal.

 

Karni Mata Temple or Deshnok Temple:

 

This is the only temple in the world known for its 20,000 rats, which are fed, protected and worshiped here. This 600-year-old temple was built in honor of a local deity 'Karni Mata' who cared for the Rajputana family. On the temple grounds, thousands of mice can be seen moving on the marble floors or eating together from the huge metal bowls with milk, sweets and muesli. The sight of the white mouse in this place is considered a blessing from the goddess, who fulfills the wishes of the believers.

 

Shiv Bari Temple:

 

It is one of the main tourist attractions in Bikaner located about 6 kilometers from the capital. The locals also call it Laleshwar Mahadeo. This temple was built by Maharaja Doongar Singhji in the 19th century. This temple is an architectural highlight made of red sandstone and is visited by dozens of tourists from different parts of the world.

 

'Bikaneri Bhujia' a spicy salt from this place that is known all over the world. This place is also known for its woolen scarves, blankets, and colorful rugs.

 

Some of the other attractions of this place are Ganges Golden Jubilee Museum, Jain Haveli, Laxmi Niwas Palace, Lalgarh Palace and many more.
